Future Love

Parth Raghav,

oh what a world would it be
where falling in love
with another human being
would be otherworldly --
we would dog-train ourselves
to find a plastic companion
wrapped in a metal sheet --
a yes man composed
of a billion semiconductors.
it's not entirely impossible to imagine
our self-worth tearing at the seams.
so, in our last-ditch efforts to find love,
we don't bother with the uncertainty...
of having to search...only to find someone
that we might disagree with...
we would instead choose
to love something incapable of disagreeing.

"how can i love you,
if i can't love myself."
the gloomers said.
good thing, i don't need to love it
for it to love me back. after all,
i paid for that.
we find love in our clones.
what a pity that is,
but a pity that would drive billions of dollars
in a market that doesn't yet exist,
that meets a demand that we collectively
conspired to create -- one of eternal
self-isolation and undeservedness.

dystopia isn't a state of selfishness,
but a state of selflessness,
that lacks the concept of a strong self.
it's the dirtiest kind,
that disguises a disability as a virtue
and looks into
a void of validation that serves no
purpose.
